Heligan, one
of the most pristine gardens in the UK, lies near the town of Cornwall,
Mevagizi city which is considered home of the world’s ancient gardens.
The garden
with design in classic style of the nineteenth century is divided into areas in
different shapes and each area has its own decoration.
The garden
was built from mid 18th century to the early 20th century by members of Cornish
Tremayne family. It was then restored in 1990 after a long time abandoned since
the end of World War I.
The garden
is well known for its magnificent collection of ancient rhododendron flowers
and floral painted tea, a series of lakes, the fertile gardens of flowers and
vegetables. In addition, there is an Italian garden with works made from
plants in Italian style and a wonderful natural landscape with primitive ferns.
In the north
of the garden stands statue of a woman gardening in classical dances surrounded
by the collection of rare plants which were brought from the Himalayas by plant
collector Joseph Hooker.
